WHAT IS EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy is an insurance plan designed to offset your financial liability from the excess you need to bear under your motor
insurance policy in the event of any accident. A 14-day waiting period is applicable from the commencement date of the Policy. This means that during the 14-day
waiting period, any accident or excess payable during this period is not claimable.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy is open to all Private Car, Commercial Vehicle or Private-Hire drivers who own a valid motor insurance policy 

HOW MUCH SHOULD I COVER FOR MY EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

You may choose your own Sum Insured ranging from $500 to $5,000. In deciding the Sum Insured, you should consider the following factors but not limited to:
• Highest policy excess amount under your motor insurance policy;
• Claims propensity and frequency; and
• Budget.

CAN I PURCHASE EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY IF I DO NOT OWN A COMPREHENSIVE MOTOR INSURANCE POLICY?

Yes, if you have excess imposed under your Third-party only (“TPO”) or Third-party, Fire and Theft (“TPFT”) policy, you can purchase the Excess Protector (Motor)
Insurance Policy.

CAN I COVER MULTIPLE VEHICLES UNDER ONE (1) EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

No, each Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy is meant to cover one (1) vehicle at any one point in time (except for fleet policy). At the point of policy
inception, you need to declare your vehicle registration number.

CAN I CHANGE THE VEHICLE REGISTERED UNDER MY EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

Yes, you may change the vehicle registered under your Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy by us. Upon
the endorsement, your revised coverage will commence upon the expiry of the 14-day waiting period from the date of notification to us 

CAN I UPGRADE MY SUM INSURED AT ANY TIME?

Yes, if there is no claim prior, you may upgrade your Sum Insured by contacting us to additional premium payable.
Additional premium payable shall be charged according to the additional Sum Insured without any pro-ration. Upon the endorsement, your revised coverage will
commence upon the expiry of the 14-day waiting period from the date of notification to Insure General

CAN I DOWNGRADE MY SUM INSURED AT ANY TIME?

No, you are not able to downgrade your Sum Insured once your policy has passed the free-look period.

WHEN CAN I CLAIM FROM MY EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY?

In the event of an accident involving your registered vehicle, your insurer for your motor insurance policy must have paid out a claim amount higher than your
policy excess in order to seek reimbursement on the excess from your Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy.

WILL MY PREMIUM INCREASE IN THE NEXT RENEWAL PERIOD IF I HAVE MADE A CLAIM?

Yes, your premium may increase in the next renewal period if you have made a claim in the current period of insurance.

WILL THERE BE A DUPLICATE COVERAGE IF I HAVE AN EXISTING MOTOR EXCESS INSURANCE PLAN FROM ANOTHER INSURER?

For every motor insurance claim which exceeds your policy excess, you can only claim from 1 excess insurance plan (subject to the insurer’s policy terms and
conditions). However, you can claim the portion of the excess which is not covered by your other motor excess insurance plan.

SHOULD I INFORM INSURE GENERAL IF THERE IS ANY MATERIAL CHANGE TO THE USAGE OF MY INSURED VEHICLE?

Yes, you should inform Insure General as soon as there is any material change to the usage of your insured vehicle. For example, if your private vehicle is converted for
private hire purpose, you must inform Insure General and pay any additional premium as advised in order to continue your coverage. Additional premium payable shall be
charged without any pro-ration

CAN I CANCEL MY EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY IF I DON’T FIND THE PLAN SUITABLE UPON RECEIVING THE POLICY DOCUMENTS?

Yes, you can cancel your Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy during the 14-day free-look period with full premium refund.

CAN I CANCEL MY EXCESS PROTECTOR (MOTOR) INSURANCE POLICY AFTER THE FREE-LOOK PERIOD?

Yes, you can cancel your Excess Protector (Motor) Insurance Policy after the free-look period. If there is no claim, you will receive a short-rate premium refund
subject to the Policy Terms and Conditions. However, if there is a claim made under your Policy, there will be no refund.
